Teeth in a day or all-on-4 implants are the newest most advanced discovery in the field of dentistry. It was discovered that implants were just as strong when inserted into the jaw bone at a 30-45 degree angle. This method would minimize the chance of bone augmentation and sinus lift where there is minimal bone in the posterior region of upper jaw and would avoid the possibility of alveolar nerve damage in lower jaw since with this method, the implants are placed more anteriorly (toward the front) in both upper and lower jaw. The bone in the maxilla (upper jaw) is not as strong as the bone in the mandible (lower jaw), so sometimes more implants are required in the upper jaw to hold the prosthesis. Usually 4 implants are sufficient for lower jaw and 4-6 are needed for upper jaw. The best part of this method is that the prosthesis can be loaded on the same day as the surgery, it is fixed and does not have palatal extension and bulkiness of traditional dentures and is completely supported by implants. The prosthesis that is inserted on the day of surgery is fixed and is temporary. Usually 4-6 months later, a final prosthesis is made after all healing has taken place.
